Planning A Glass Tile Installation For Fountain And Pool Areas

Oct 01, 2015

When planning an outdoor glass tile installation, you will want to pay special attention to the manufacturer's recommendations, both for the tiles as well as the materials you will use to install the tiles. Follow any guidelines that are given in regards to expansion joints and crack suppression membranes, which can be selected to not only provide anti-fracture protection, but also waterproofing protection. Although any size of tiles can be used, many people find that when designing areas such as the bottom of pools and fountains, that small 25px mosaic tiles are easiest to work with, due to the fact that they can be designed to be fitted easily around fixtures, and are easier to install on rounded edges and surfaces. If the tiles are being installed over a cement surface, make sure to allow the surface to cure and harden for at least 28 days before installing the tiles. After the installation of the glass tiles, always refer to the manufacturer's instructions in regards to when water can be added back into the pool or fountain area, as it is important to allow the area to cure properly first.
