Considerations For Using Ceramic Tiles Outdoors
Sep 30, 2015

Ceramic tiles are quite durable for outdoor use. They are also especially good for areas around water, because of the fact that they don't absorb moisture, and as such are resistant to mold and mildew. When used around or even in pools and fountains, they can add reflective color that will not fade or deteriorate over time. Ceramic tiles also are not subject to the warping that can occur with many other types of outdoor building materials, and they are safe for areas that experience below freezing winter temperatures. Ceramic is also very resistant to outdoor conditions such as acid rain, and is not subject to fading from chemicals or the sun. However, when planning an outdoor tile installation, you want to make sure to use an adhesive and grout that is recommended for outdoor use.
