Choosing The Best Tile Material For A Room
Sep 01, 2015

You sellect tiles on their aesthetic appeal and on their construction. The materials that make up the tile, and the way the tile solidifies when formed are just as important as the actual design.
Some tiles are more porous than others and some are completely non-porous. It has to do with the kind of glazing used. Without glaze the tiles will be rustic looking, but they also will be harder to maintain. That's why you mostly see kitchen glass tiles are glazed, as are some ceramic choices. You will also see these smooth glass tiles used in bathrooms, and in mosaic tile patterns.
The tiles without glaze are best used in the outdoors, on patios or by the pool, or in areas of the home that could afford to be worn out a little. They can be cleaned with a good sweep and mopping, but it will take a little more effort to get in the grooves.
Either way, pick the most appropriate tiling you can for the room you plan to update. That way you save yourself the aggravation of maintenance. Both tiles with and without glazed can look fantastic and be excellent home additions, given the right room.
